Habits I Picked up During Quarantine [that are here to stay]

Quarantine was a weird time that had a lot of us trying new things and doing just about anything to pass the time. Thankfully I discovered a few things during my three month long shut in that I found ignited happiness in my soul, therefore they are here to stay.

I think it’s very important to find things that make you feel good because ultimately anything that makes you feel good is a form of self-care, and we could all use more self-care.

I hope this post will give you the motivation to try something new that will ignite happiness and you can take some inspiration away from it. Let’s do thissss!

1.

Self Tanning

Pre COVID I had my first ever spray tan and I absolutely loved it. My skin is so fair and hates the sun so it’s impossible for me to get a nice even natural tan because, well, I burn. After everything shut down I couldn’t indulge in a spray tan so naturally I turned to the next best thing- self tanner.

Now before even going out to purchase a product I did a ton of research and read countless reviews because I did not want to be orange for a week. I stumbled across St. Tropez and the reviews had me sold.

Self tanning is now part of my weekly routine and it gives me such a confidence boost. Having a nice glow as opposed to being ghostly white just changes how a person feels, ya know? Plus I get tons of compliments on my tan despite it being “fake” which you know I don’t hate 😉

2.

Skin Care

With all the time off of work one thing I really wanted to do is refine my skin care routine because I was awful. I didn’t really understand what I was putting on my skin and why, I was just doing it because I knew that it was what I was suppose[???] to do.

The first thing I did was actually implement an routine and stick to it. I didn’t change the products that I was already using I just added a few more in.

The biggest change I made was cleansing and exfoliating [gently] daily, as well as using this amazing facial cleansing brush which gives me a deeper clean.

Collecting plants

I definitely know that I’m not the only one who got a little over zealous with plants during quarantine. How can anyone blame us? We had nothing else to do!

I’ve collected well over ten plants and I can’t believe how much I’ve learned! Taking care of plants really takes a certain finesse and loads of patience, but once you see that first sprout of new growth it’s so worth it!

My plant wish list has grown tremendously and I’ve decided that one day when we buy our forever home it must have a sunroom.

Gratitude journal

During quarantine there were times that it got extremely tough, and I knew that I had to try my best to look at the positives in my life.

Getting a gratitude journal has really helped me get out of my head and realize that no matter how stressful this time has been there are always things to be thankful for.

It’s also helped me to relieve amazing memories and instead of being sad that they’re moments that have passed I’m grateful for having those moments and memories.

Try to think of even one thing every day that you are thankful for and give gratitude to it- I promise it will lift a weight off your shoulders.

Scrapbooking

You guys. I’ve become obsessed. I have more of a “junk journal” style going on so far, and it’s so fun to just put everything that I love, that inspires me, or that I’m manifesting into one book.

I have probably ordered too many supplies for this new hobby of mine [thank you Amazon Prime] but once you start it is so addicting. Thankfully the Dollartree is also a great source for crafting supplies and everything is $1.25 so it’s very reasonable price-wise!

I showed some of my favourite spreads to date in my last post if you want to check them out!

Making lists

In an attempt to become more organized I’ve started making lists for literally everything because I can be so forgetful.

Good news is that this new habit has really helped me prioritize all the tasks that I need to accomplish while also giving me an excuse to buy super cute stationary.

I found some great notepads for making lists at Dollarama, Tristan also swears by making lists so we splurged and bought all the different designs that we liked.

  1. It’s great that Covid gave you an opportunity to have some new habits which sound like you’re really enjoying! I also added to my skin care routine during Covid by starting a weekly face mask for that pampered feeling. I also got better at looking after my plants and even re-potted my orchids; one of which has bloomed again!
